Gowrie NSW was founded in 1940 by Lady Zara Gowrie, with a vision to see every child thrive and amplify their contribution to the world. That vision still drives our work in early and middle childhood, grounded in children's rights and the belief that every child has a voice. We see children as active participants and build learning environments where they feel respected, heard and empowered. Our practice draws on contemporary research, evidence-led teaching and strong partnerships with families and communities.

Today Gowrie NSW delivers programs across regional and metropolitan NSW and the ACT: nine Early Education and Care centres, one preschool and eleven Outside School Hours Care programs, all Meeting or Exceeding the National Quality Standard. We also run an NSW/ACT Inclusion Agency hub, provide childcare for families in the Adult Migrant English Program and deliver professional learning through our Education Hub. In 2026 we launched our podcast 'Let's Talk Pedagogy', where each conversation explores practice, what it looks like day to day and how it grows over time.

Four Program Foundations shape practice across every Gowrie NSW service: Respectful Relationships, Intentional Play-Based Teaching, Empowerment and Practitioner Inquiry. Together they keep our focus where it belongs, on inclusive environments that honour children's rights and help every child learn, grow and shape their own future.
